ABSTRACT
Analysis of stability and seed yield of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) promising lines in Paraguay
The estimation of stability in promising lines is important in breeding for develop a new variety. The aim of this research was to study stability and the seed yield in soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill.) lines, sowing in different locations in Paraguay. Three lines (LCM180, LCM168 and LCM176) and three varieties including a Paraguayan variety Aurora and two Brazilian common varieties were tested in six locations of soybean production area in Paraguay during the two growing seasons; 2007/08 and 2008/09. The stability of soybean varieties and lines as regards yields were studied by Finlay and Wilkinson, Eberhart and Russell, Muir methods and AMMI. The yield of LCM180 was almost equal to yield of Aurora and the adaptability of this line is similar to the adaptability of Aurora. The adaptabilities of LCM168 and LCM176 were superior to the adaptability of Aurora. But the yield of LCM168 was lower than the yields of two Brazilian varieties in most of the locations. On the contrary, the yield and stability of LCM176 were better than those of Aurora. The average yield of this line was as equal as the two Brazilian cultivar’s yields. In addition, its stability is superior to those Brazilian cultivars.
