ABSTRACT
He arrived in Tucuman in J une, 1914. The Governor was Ernesto Padilla and the University of Tucuman was about to be created. The Tucuman Agricultural Experimental Station (EEAT), chaired by its mentor Alfredo Guzman, was just five years old. Last April Robert Blouin – the first Technical Director – and J. Hall, head chemist, had resigned. An attractive job offer and the challenge of leading a young EEAT through the latest developments of the time decided him to leave his position as Head of the Chemical and Sugar Technology Section at the Louisiana Sugar Experiment Station in New Orleans, USA.
